## Summary

Speech-led founder accounts hold a median 26,200 followers against 1,108 for faceless accounts, and the gap holds inside every niche tested.

## Findings

### Finding 1: The follower gap is enormous.

Median 26,200 followers for fronted accounts against 1,108 for faceless, measured across 2,130 labeled accounts with 3 or more mature videos.

- median followers, founder-fronted (speech-led): 26,200
- median followers, faceless: 1,108

### Finding 2: Typical views: 7.6x.

The median of account-median mature views is 2,951 for fronted accounts against 387 for faceless. Same platform, same window, one order of magnitude apart.

- median per-video views, fronted: 2,951
- median per-video views, faceless: 387 (7.6x)

### Finding 3: Breakout odds: 2.4x.

64.6% of fronted accounts have a 100K+ video in their last 25 posts against 27.2% of faceless accounts.

- Founder-fronted: 64.6% (hold a 100K+ video)
- Faceless: 27.2% (hold a 100K+ video)

### Finding 4: It holds inside every niche tested, so it is not a composition trick.

Fronted median views beat faceless in all 12 niches with 10 or more accounts per side. These are the five biggest. No Simpson's paradox, no statistical trick: the direction is the same everywhere.

- SaaS and tech: Founder-fronted 2,652, Faceless 311
- Creator and solo: Founder-fronted 3,481, Faceless 1,370
- Ecommerce and DTC: Founder-fronted 3,552, Faceless 337
- Real estate: Founder-fronted 4,236, Faceless 529
- Finance and investing: Founder-fronted 7,443, Faceless 424

### Finding 5: Even where faceless is an established playbook, speech wins.

The narrowest gap is creator and solopreneur at 2.5x, the one niche where faceless formats like digital products and quote content are a real, practiced playbook. Speech-led accounts still win there.

- THE NARROWEST GAP: Creator and solopreneur, 3,481 fronted against 1,370 faceless. That is the best case for going faceless, and it is still a 2.5x loss.

### Finding 6: Faceless is common, not clever.

615 of 2,977 labelable accounts, 20.7%, run faceless, plus 847 in the mixed middle. The silent strategy is widely used and it underperforms on every measure in this study.

- Founder-fronted: 1,515
- Mixed (excluded): 847
- Faceless: 615

## Quotable line

> In every founder niche we measured, the accounts that talk beat the accounts that don't. Not by a little: by 7x on typical views.

## Methodology and limitations

Data from 3,232 relevance-screened founder accounts. Accounts were labeled by a speech proxy from transcript-attempted videos, minimum 5 attempts: 60% or more of videos containing speech is founder-fronted (1,515 accounts), 20% or less is faceless (615), and the middle is mixed and excluded (847).

The proxy measures speech, not literal faces. A voiceover-over-b-roll account counts as fronted and a silent-vlog founder counts as faceless. Read every number here as speech-led against silent.

Limitations:

- The 25-video window and lifetime-cumulative views apply; videos under 14 days old are excluded from view statistics.
