Information we collect
We collect the following information when you use this site:
We do not collect payment card data on this site. Payments for our services are handled off-site by separate providers.
- Email addresses you submit through our newsletter and playbook signup forms.
- Analytics data such as pages visited, referring sites, approximate location, browser, and device type.
- Standard server logs, including IP addresses and request timestamps, generated automatically by our hosting provider.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect for these purposes:
- To deliver the newsletter, playbook, or other content you signed up for.
- To understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it.
- To respond when you contact us.
- To keep the site secure and diagnose technical problems.
Third-party processors
We rely on a small number of service providers to run this site. Each receives only the data needed to do its job:
These providers process data under their own privacy policies and our agreements with them. We do not sell your personal information.
- beehiiv: delivers our newsletter and stores subscriber email addresses.
- PostHog: product analytics that helps us understand how the site is used.
- Google Analytics 4: web analytics measuring traffic and page performance.
- Vercel: hosts this website and generates standard server logs.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses cookies and similar technologies set by our analytics providers (PostHog and Google Analytics 4) to measure visits and usage patterns. These help us see aggregate trends, not to build profiles of individual visitors.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers also offer private browsing modes and extensions that limit analytics tracking. The site works fine with cookies disabled.
Opting out and your choices
Every newsletter email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing michael@joltexclamationpoint.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
If you are visiting from the EU or UK, you may have additional rights under local data protection law, including rights to access, portability, rectification, and erasure. Contact us at the email above to exercise them.
Data retention
We keep subscriber email addresses for as long as you remain subscribed, and remove them from active lists when you unsubscribe.
Analytics data is retained per the default retention settings of our analytics providers, typically 14 months or less for Google Analytics. Server logs are kept for a short operational window by our hosting provider.
We delete or anonymize personal information when it is no longer needed for the purposes described here.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date above. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
